Vile Visions: Horror Stories by Riley Odell genuinely lives up to the title!

I found the writing to be exquisite. It's descriptive, dark, and daunting, in all the best possible ways.

The stories are, in my opinion, horror done right—but also were, at times, very uncomfortable to read. However, I suspect that was the idea, because as Odell wrote in the introduction: "The world sucks."

Some of my favorite Vile Visions include: GLITCH, INVERSION, BEES, SHOCK TREATMENT, and LONELY.

Ending this review with a quote I couldn't help but highlight:

"Another bus, too big to swerve, was coming along fast, and the two smashed together like two people kissing, an awful cacophony of crashing and breaking and tearing and grinding and squealing, all echoing thunderously in the dreary air. Then they rested, like sleeping lovers on a bed of glass and black pavement, beneath a darkening sky." (TAG, YOU'RE IT!)
